Biden Dismisses Trump’s Call To Debate

Former President Donald Trump, the likely GOP presidential nominee, recently called on President Joe Biden to debate, which the president denied.

During an interview on The Dan Bongino Show, the former president emphasized the need for Biden to engage in a debate alongside him, arguing that such a move would be “for the good of the country.”

“I’d like to call for, immediately, debates,” Trump said. “I’d like to debate him now because we should debate. We should debate for the good of the country.”

When asked to comment on Trump’s suggestion, Biden told reporters the former president has “nothing else to do.”

“Well, if I were him, I’d want to debate me too,” Biden said after purchasing ice cream in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Although there are several Republican and Democrat presidential hopefuls still vying for their party’s nomination, the discussion between Trump and Biden signals that the pair will be their respective parties’ presidential nominees in 2024.

Given Biden’s weakening cognitive abilities, the president has not participated in debates against his Democratic primary challengers, such as Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN).

In April 2023, the president was ridiculed after it was revealed that reporters would hand him “cue cards” containing the questions asked before an interview. One such cue card appeared to show questions that would be asked by Los Angeles Times reporter Courtney Subramanian, scheduled to interview Biden at the time.

During the Bongino interview, Trump also lashed out at Biden for turning down an interview by a television network that would air during the forthcoming Super Bowl on Feb. 11, 2024. The former president said he would replace the president in the interview.

“He can’t do it, because he can’t talk,” Trump said, referring to Biden’s decision to skip the Super Bowl interview.

On Truth Social, the former president reacted to the news of Biden skipping the interview during the Super Bowl, writing, “Crooked Joe Biden has just announced that he will not be doing the big Super Bowl Interview. A great decision, he can’t put two sentences together. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO REPLACE HIM — would be “RATINGS GOLD!”
