As the 2024 election approaches, Border Patrol agents are warning of mass resignations if Vice President Kamala Harris wins the presidency. Agents say working under the Biden-Harris administration has been frustrating, with one agent describing the past four years as “hell.” Many are preparing to retire if Harris takes office, but some are willing to stay if Donald Trump wins.
One agent, speaking anonymously to the New York Post, shared that many agents are fed up with policies that have made their work less effective. “They can’t outwardly tell us not to do our job, but when you’re watching criminals come in and get released, it sucks,” said the agent.

The National Border Patrol Union has thrown its support behind Donald Trump, criticizing Harris’ leadership and warning that the country is headed for disaster if she is elected. According to the union, illegal immigration has skyrocketed under the Biden-Harris administration, with over 10 million border crossings and 1.7 million undetected “gotaways.”
Yuma Border Patrol Chief Chris Clem echoed these sentiments, saying morale among agents is at an all-time low. He criticized Harris for portraying herself as pro-border security in recent campaign ads, despite what agents see as an administration that has made it harder for them to do their jobs.

Harris’ campaign has made a recent pivot on immigration, featuring ads that highlight her experience as a border state prosecutor. Despite these efforts, many in the Border Patrol feel disillusioned with the administration’s handling of illegal immigration and are ready to leave if there is no change in leadership.
