Elon Musk’s Push For H-1B Visas Raises Concerns Over US Middle-Class Jobs

Elon Musk’s defense of the H-1B visa program has drawn sharp criticism from MAGA allies, with Steve Bannon accusing the billionaire of undermining American workers and prioritizing globalist interests. Critics warn that Musk’s support for expanding the program could lead to lower wages and fewer benefits for U.S. employees.

Musk has argued that H-1B visas are essential for bringing “super talented” individuals to the U.S., crediting the program with strengthening companies like Tesla and SpaceX. However, his stance has sparked backlash, particularly from those who see his motives as financially driven. Critics allege Musk has a vested interest in loosening visa restrictions, enabling his companies to hire less expensive foreign tech workers willing to accept fewer benefits and longer hours.

During his War Room podcast, Steve Bannon labeled the H-1B program a “total and complete scam” and accused Musk of betraying American workers. “You are a war profiteer; you’re sleeping with the enemy, brother,” Bannon said, adding that Musk’s business ventures in China compromise his loyalty to the U.S. “He is owned lock, stock and barrel by the Chinese Communist Party,” Bannon added.

The debate has exposed divisions within President Donald Trump’s base. While Trump recently expressed support for the program, calling it a “great program” that he has used on his properties, figures like Laura Loomer have urged GOP leaders to resist Musk’s influence. Loomer warned that Musk’s policies could lead to a “race to the bottom” for U.S. workers.

Musk’s Shanghai operations have been a focal point of criticism, with Bannon alleging that Tesla’s joint venture in China is “100% controlled by the CCP.” Critics argue these interests drive Musk’s push for policies that benefit global corporations at the expense of the American middle class.
