Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) announced on Wednesday that her office had received a “very serious shooting threat.” Luna blames the escalating violence on the Democrats’ rhetoric, claiming their “division and hate campaign” is responsible for the rise in threats against Republicans, including two recent assassination attempts against Donald Trump.
Although the specific details of the threat were not disclosed, Luna emphasized her commitment to standing strong in the face of intimidation. She took to X, stating, “I will not be threatened, intimidated, or bow down to those using violence as a means to push their agenda.”
This latest threat comes after Luna had been doxxed online, with her personal information shared publicly. She also reported receiving threatening packages at her home in St. Petersburg, Florida, and blames her Democratic opponent, Whitney Fox, for not addressing the issue, accusing Fox of enabling her supporters to dox her.
Luna linked the threats to a broader pattern of violent rhetoric, noting how Democrats often label Republicans as “threats to democracy,” a tactic she says leads to real-world violence. “When you dehumanize people, violence occurs,” Luna warned.
The threats against Luna are currently under investigation by law enforcement. Her office has promised to keep the public informed as more information becomes available.
