In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, an Asheville, North Carolina, resident is voicing his frustration with the Biden administration’s response to the devastating storm. Jordan Lanning appeared on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” and criticized the federal government’s delayed aid, which took five days to reach his community.
Lanning expressed disappointment that President Biden did not personally visit the hardest-hit areas. “It’s disgraceful. It’s them versus us,” Lanning said, adding that the government is not listening to the needs of storm survivors.
The federal government’s offer of a $750 payment for essentials like food and baby supplies has been met with criticism, with many survivors, including Lanning, saying it is not enough to cover the damage caused by the hurricane. “There’s people that have lost everything,” Lanning said.
Lanning also criticized the administration for prioritizing financial support for migrants over American citizens affected by the storm. “I feel betrayed,” he said, pointing out that the government has spent billions on migrant assistance while Americans struggle to rebuild.
Hurricane Helene has caused widespread devastation, with over 130 people dead and nearly 600 still missing. As communities in the Southeast work to recover, survivors like Lanning are calling on the federal government to provide more substantial aid and focus on helping Americans first.
