Kamala ‘Ready To Serve’ As Biden Faces Age Scrutiny

Vice President Kamala Harris says she is “ready to serve” to step into the presidency during an interview with the Wall Street Journal published Monday, as concerns about President Joe Biden’s age continue to grow, though her poll numbers are even lower than the president’s.

“I am ready to serve. There’s no question about that,” Harris said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, two days before a bombshell report from special counsel Robert Hur reawakened concern over Biden’s age and mental agility as an 81-year-old leader.

The 59-year-old Harris has faced growing scrutiny about her abilities as the first in line to the presidency should President Biden, 81, be incapacitated or stand down.

Special counsel Robert Hur’s probe into Biden’s handling of classified documents said the president should not face charges but damningly said he would come across to a jury as a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

The White House denies the report and claims that Hur interviewed Biden when he was under intense pressure the day after the October 7 attacks on Israel.

Harris came to Biden’s defense, calling the special counsel’s report politically motivated. Harris has taken on a growing role in Biden’s reelection campaign, focusing on subjects including abortion, ahead of November’s vote in which he is expected to face a rematch with former president Donald Trump.

Harris’ approval ratings are even lower than Biden’s, with a poll showing her at only 28% approval. She has primarily abandoned her responsibilities for the border crises and root causes of migration, choosing instead to blame Congress for failing to pass immigration reform.

Axios reported Monday that Biden’s team was disappointed in her performance on the border issue, with one former White House senior aide describing her as, at best, ineffective. Harris also routinely faces ridicule for awkward word-salad speeches that frequently spiral out of control.

Harris faces even more scrutiny as Biden frequently demonstrates signs of physical and mental decline.

The president routinely struggles to remember details of events, names of people, and details of stories he used to recall easily during public remarks.
