MSNBC Host Compares Immigration Enforcement To Segregation

On Wednesday, MSNBC host Joy Reid tried to smear Texas’ efforts to secure the southern border and mitigate the effects of President Joe Biden’s border crisis to “the old Southerners who said that we will resist integration by any means necessary.”

The far-left host began the segment by complaining about Republican lawmakers for refusing to sign on to Democrats’ border bills — claiming that Democrats are trying to solve the problem while Republicans just want to use the crisis as a talking point, despite the fact that Texas Republicans are actually trying to enforce federal immigration laws that the Biden administration is refusing to enforce or even outright violating.

“There is no better example of what MAGA World wants for the rest of America than Texas,” Reid said, falsely claiming that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) had ordered the Texas National Guard to implement “draconian measures meant to secure the border.”

The MSNBC host then described the actions of the Texas National Guard, stating that they were “setting up buoys with buzz saws, barring federal agents from assisting with border control, and passing legislation that makes it a state crime to cross the border.”

Reid specifically attacked Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), likely in response to his recent comments in a Fox News interview, where he declared that the Supreme Court should “go to hell” after the court ruled that the Biden administration could continue to facilitate illegal immigration by removing and destroying the razor wire border barrier set up by the Texas National Guard. The MSNBC host claimed that Roy was all talk and no action, arguing that he has done nothing to address the border crisis despite being “a member of a body and party that could actually do something about immigration.”

“They just refuse to do it because many Republicans now see calling for zero tolerance on the border as the only way to animate their base,” Reid added.

Reid concluded her argument by claiming that Texas Republicans are equivalent to “the old southerners who said that we will resist integration by any means necessary.”

Roy has responded to Reid’s segment in a short statement posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, by his press office.

“Race baiting DC and NY liberals who enable human and drug trafficking can pound sand,” the statement read.
