Nikki Haley Claims Trump Is ‘Playing Politics’ With Border Crisis

Former South Carolina governor and former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley (R) is once again attacking her former boss and GOP primary opponent, former President Donald Trump, claiming that he is “absolutely playing politics” by opposing the Senate immigration deal.

The supposedly “bipartisan” deal negotiated by Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) would expand legal immigration by 50,000 green cards per year, despite the fact that the U.S. already admits a staggering one million legal immigrants per year and is being overrun by illegal aliens at the same time. The bill will also allow up to 5,000 illegal aliens to enter the U.S. every day, meaning up to 35,000 illegal aliens per week, before the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) can impose border controls. Illegal aliens will also be provided with expedited work permits to steal American jobs.

Conservatives have slammed the deal as a pro-open borders measure disguised as a border security bill, and the Oklahoma Republican Party has already cut “all support” for Lankford over his support for the bill.

Trump also condemned the bill in a post on Truth Social, declaring: “A Border Bill is not necessary to stop the millions of people, many from jails and mental institutions located all over the World, that are POURING INTO OUR COUNTRY. It is an INVASION the likes of which no Country has ever had to endure. It is not sustainable or affordable, and will, under Crooked Joe Biden, ONLY GET WORSE. I had the safest and most secure Border in U.S. History. I didn’t need a ‘Bill!’”

“They are using this horrific Senate Bill as a way of being able to put the BORDER DISASTER onto the shoulders of the Republicans. The Democrats BROKE THE BORDER, they should fix it. NO LEGISLATION IS NEEDED, IT’S ALREADY THERE!” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Trump’s pro-establishment opponent has attacked him for speaking out against the disastrous deal. Haley, who previously chastised Republicans for daring to point out that illegal aliens are criminals, appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” to condemn Trump’s opposition to the bill.

CNN anchor Dana Bash began the conversation by asking Haley about Trump pushing Republican senators to oppose the bill.

“Let’s turn to the crisis at the U.S. southern border. Bipartisan negotiators in the U.S. Senate, they are set to release the text of a deal on border security soon. Donald Trump, as you know, is pushing Republican Senators to oppose the deal in part because he wants to run on the issue in 2024 in this election year. You call that a mistake. Are you saying the former president is playing politics with the border?” Bash asked.

Haley responded by falsely claiming that Trump has been telling Republicans to wait to deal with the border crisis until after the 2024 presidential election — ignoring the fact that Trump has advocated for border security measures, but is only opposing the “bipartisan” deal because it doesn’t actually secure the border.

“I think nobody should be playing politics with the border,” Haley replied. “He shouldn’t be getting involved telling Republicans to wait until the election because we don’t want this to help Biden win. We can’t wait wait one more day. You have millions of people who have come to that board, they are not being vetted. America is acting like it’s September 10. It only takes one. This is not a time to play politics.”

“Is he?” Bash pressed.

“Of course he is,” Haley claimed. “He is absolutely playing politics by telling them not to do anything. What I think they need to do is they have to put a tough immigration law in place.”
