Nikki Haley has scored her first and only win in the 2024 Republican primaries thanks to the District of Columbia.
Only registered Republicans were able to vote in the election, Which was held over the course of three days, from March 1 to March 3.
Washington is one of the most heavily Democratic jurisdictions in the nation, with only about 23,000 registered Republicans in the city. 2,030 votes were cast in the D.C. Republican primary.
Haley won over 60% of the vote, earning D.C.’s 19 delegates.

Because only 2,030 of DCs over 700,000 citizens voted in the republican primaries, Haley only got around 1,200 total votes, nearly doubling Donald Trump’s over 600 votes.
Trump doesn’t seem too concerned with Haley’s win, though.
The Donald Trump Campaign’s statement said, “While Nikki has been soundly rejected throughout the rest of America, she was just crowned Queen of the Swamp by the lobbyists and DC insiders that want to protect the failed status quo.”
In response to her D.C. win, Haley’s spokeswoman says, “Republicans closest to Washington dysfunction are rejecting Donald Trump and all his chaos.”
Haley somehow presents herself with confidence, suggesting in speeches that she’ll beat Donald Trump “fair and square.” The numbers don’t seem to suggest even a close race though. After this win, she has 45 delegates to Trump’s 244. She plans on staying in the race until at least after super Tuesday.
As it stands, Haley’s name on the ballot is just a stand-in for “someone else,” who she’s also lost to. She isn’t likely to win much more than she already has, so why is she even still in the race? Many suspect she’s staying in just in case Trump falls to his mess of legal proceedings, but with Monday’s supreme court decision, that seems highly unlikely.
The politicians aren’t on the same page as the rest of America, and Nikki Haley has invested way too much into a race she’s doomed to lose.
