A GoFundMe campaign authorized by President Donald Trump has quickly raised more than $265,000 to support the victims and their families after a failed assassination attempt at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The tragic event left one person dead and two others critically injured.
Donald Trump Jr. and Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, shared the GoFundMe link on social media. The fundraiser aims to provide financial support to those affected by the attack, with Trump Jr. highlighting the account’s authenticity.
Trump himself was injured during the incident, being shot in the ear. He was swiftly taken offstage by Secret Service agents. In a Truth Social post, Trump described the injury and assured his followers of his safety, stating, “GOD BLESS AMERICA!” He also expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased.
The shooter, identified by the FBI as Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, is now under investigation. Despite this shocking event, Trump plans to continue his campaign efforts and will attend the upcoming Republican convention in Wisconsin. The convention’s location is notably near where President Teddy Roosevelt survived an assassination attempt in 1912, drawing historical parallels to Trump’s situation. This defiance and resilience in the face of danger resonate with Trump’s supporters and reinforce his image as a determined leader.
