Nicole Shanahan, running mate of independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has raised the possibility of quitting the race and endorsing President Donald Trump for a second term, citing sabotage from within and outside the Democratic Party. In an interview on Impact Theory with Tom Bilyeu, Shanahan detailed how the campaign has been undermined by Democratic operatives and organizations aligned with the party.
“There’s two options that we’re looking at,” Shanahan explained. “One is staying in, forming that new party, but we run the risk of a Kamala Harris and Tim Walz presidency because we draw votes from Trump.” The alternative, according to Shanahan, is to “walk away right now and join forces with Donald Trump” while explaining the decision to their base.
Shanahan contrasted the two frontrunners, Vice President Kamala Harris and President Donald Trump, saying, “If we are splitting hairs, I would say that I trust the future of this country more under the leadership of Trump and the [Peter] Thiels and the JD Vances than I do right now under Harris and the Reid Hoffmans.”
During the interview, Shanahan revealed details of what she called a coordinated effort by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and affiliated groups to sabotage the RFK Jr. campaign. She claimed the campaign was turned into a “spoiler” by the Clear Choice PAC, a DNC-aligned group that she says was specifically created to undermine their efforts.
According to Shanahan, the PAC spent millions on tactics aimed at disrupting the campaign, including shadowbanning, exclusion from debates, poll manipulation, and even planting insiders to create legal challenges.
Shanahan emphasized that the goal was never to be a spoiler but to win and “fix this country.” However, she expressed deep frustration with what she called an “impossible” environment created by the DNC. “They’ve even planted insiders into our campaign to disrupt it and to create actual legal issues for us. I mean, the extent by which the sabotage they’ve unleashed upon us, it’s mind-blowing,” Shanahan said.
The Harris campaign, in response, dismissed the Kennedy-Shanahan ticket, refusing to engage in any negotiations. A Harris campaign spokesperson reportedly said, “No one has any intention of negotiating with a MAGA-funded fringe candidate who has sought out a job with Donald Trump in exchange for an endorsement.”
As the campaign season intensifies, the possibility of RFK Jr. and Shanahan dropping out to support Trump could dramatically alter the dynamics of the 2024 race. The implications of such a decision, especially for independent and swing voters, are likely to become a central focus in the weeks ahead.
