During a health panel hosted by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), Robert F. Kennedy Jr. delivered a dire warning about the state of America’s food and health policies, claiming that the U.S. is “mass poisoning” its children. Kennedy criticized government nutrition programs, particularly the heavy reliance on processed foods.
Kennedy pointed out that 70% of food stamps are spent on processed foods, which he says are contributing to widespread health problems. He also condemned the government’s agricultural subsidy system, saying, “We give eight times as much subsidies to tobacco in this country than we do to fruits and vegetables.”
The panel, titled “American Health & Nutrition: A Second Opinion,” focused on issues such as childhood obesity, the role of Big Pharma in public health, and the corruption within regulatory agencies like the FDA and CDC. Kennedy argued that these agencies, controlled by corporate interests, are no longer serving the American people.
Kennedy further accused the National Institutes of Health (NIH) of allowing scientists to profit from their work on products developed in partnership with pharmaceutical companies. He claimed that 80% of NIH grants go to scientists who can earn up to $150,000 a year in royalties.
In his closing remarks, Kennedy called for sweeping reforms, stating, “We can change all of this very, very quickly, but it starts with taking a sledgehammer to corruption.” He emphasized that the current system prioritizes profits over the health of American children.
