What Happened?
AT&T disclosed in March 2024 that sensitive data—including Social Security numbers and account details—had been leaked for roughly 73 million current and former customers. A separate breach, revealed in July, exposed call and text metadata involving almost all of AT&T’s cellular users. Both incidents prompted national class-action lawsuits, which were consolidated in courts in Texas and Montana.

The combined settlement, preliminarily approved by a Texas judge in June 2025, allocates $149 million for the March breach and $28 million for the July breach. Kroll Settlement Administration is handling all claim processing.
Who Gets What?
Customers whose data was exposed may be eligible for two types of payments:
Documented Loss Claims
- Up to $5,000 for expenses or losses due to the March 2024 breach
- Up to $2,500 for similar losses from the July 2024 breach
Claimants must submit separate documentation for each breach to receive both payments.
Tiered (Pro-Rata) Claims
- Tier 1: For customers whose Social Security numbers were compromised in the March breach
- Tier 2: For other data types leaked in the same incident
- Tier 3: Covers all claimants affected by the July breach
Payouts for tiered claims will be calculated after all valid submissions are received, with Tier 1 expected to receive higher compensation than Tiers 2 or 3.
Deadlines and Process
Claims opened on August 4, 2025, and must be submitted online or by mail by November 18, 2025. Claimants can also opt out or file objections by October 17, 2025. Filing both a documented-loss claim and a tiered claim is not allowed for the same breach.
