After facing off against Vice President Kamala Harris in the first 2024 presidential debate, President Donald Trump criticized the ABC News moderators for showing bias, saying it was “three on one.”
Trump’s comment came after moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis repeatedly fact-checked his claims while leaving Harris’ false statements unchallenged.
Davis interrupted Trump when he spoke about post-birth abortion policies in certain states, claiming no such laws exist. At the same time, when Harris falsely accused Trump of opposing in vitro fertilization, neither Muir nor Davis stepped in to correct her. This led to widespread criticism on social media, with Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., calling out the moderators for their biased handling of the debate.
Harris, throughout the night, made several controversial claims about Trump, including accusations related to Charlottesville and American troops. These statements, which have been debunked in the past, were not fact-checked by the moderators, fueling the perception that Trump was being unfairly targeted.
The debate, held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, has sparked concerns about media bias ahead of the 2024 election. Trump’s supporters are rallying behind his critique of the debate’s moderation, reinforcing long-standing claims of unfair media treatment.
