Watters Argues Why Prosecutors Slapped Trump With Gag Order

Fox News host Jesse Watters recently offered an argument for why the gag order imposed on former President Donald Trump in his ongoing New York City trial over alleged hush money payments is unprecedented.

“The trial of the century, day six,” Watters began. “The crime — the Democrats still haven’t named. They call it hush money.”

Watters argued that Trump’s First Amendment rights were on trial, too, given Democratic prosecutors’ efforts to fine the former president for speaking about the case.

“Trump’s free speech went on trial today,” the Fox News host asserted. “Democrat prosecutors want the former president fined for talking — $1000 a pop. Something tells me that won’t make it stop.

“[Manhattan District Attorney Alvin] Bragg’s begging the judge to gag the Republican nominee for president from talking about the prosecutor, complaining he did it right here in the hallway outside. Oh, no!” he added.

Watters then pointed out that it’s “unconstitutional” to impose a gag order on Republicans in an election season. The Fox News host said MSNBC host Rachel Maddow — a fierce never Trumper — could be on the jury and the former president “still wouldn’t be allowed to talk about it.”

“Trump’s gagged and there’s no cameras, so voters have to trust what the reporters in the room say… The same reporters who pushed the Russia, laptop, and lab leak hoaxes,” he said.

“Biden’s fingerprints are all over this, as we learn Trump’s team is accusing the White House of not just being privy to the classified documents case against Trump — but being the driving force behind it,” Watters continued.

The former president recently said that President Joe Biden was “in charge” of the New York City trial and claimed that the president’s “top people are here, working with the DA’s office to make sure everything goes right.”

Interestingly, prosecutors argued that Trump repeatedly violated a gag order, citing a recent incident during jury selection that involved Watters, which they called “very troubling.”

Trump had read a quote from Watters reading, “They are catching undercover Liberal Activists lying to the Judge in order to get on the Trump Jury.”
