ChatGPT users showed dramatically lower EEG brainwave activity during composition and failed memory tests at a rate of 83%—unable to recall their own prior writing.
Meanwhile, studies from Microsoft and Carnegie Mellon found similar evidence of mental disengagement. Users who leaned on AI were less likely to question information, solve complex problems, or retain facts.
